WRITING TASK 2(ESSAY TOPIC)

Task 2

Some people believe that children should be made disciplines by making them obey rules and do what their parents and teachers want them to do. Others, however, believe that those children who are controlled are not well prepared to tackle the challenges life bring to them.

Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Sample Answer:

Young children are beginners. They have a lot to learn and one of the biggest lessons they must learn is how to behave oe act in an acceptable manner. Some people believe by obeying rules children become better citizens and do not fall into bad company. Others believe that they become very controlled if they are told what to do and what not to do all the time.

Firstly, rules of behavior create responsible and respectful children who in turn mature into respectful adults. They know the value of respect for elders. They know the importance of relationships. They know about their values of respect for elders. The know the importance of relationships. They know about their culture values as well. This forms a stable society which is virtually free from vices such as prostitution and drug abuse. They, in fact, face difficulties in a more mature and disciplined way. They are not lured by peer pressure and refrain from acting on impulse.

However, if too strict rules are imposed on children then they become rebels. They may start doing just the opposite of what is told them to do. What is more, they may show abnormal behavior. They may fall into bad company or resort to drugs because of frustration. Moreover, imposing too strict rules destroys the individuality of children. They may withdraw into a shell. This may suppress their creativity and as a consequence, they may not be able to deal with problems well by themselves.

Overall, a path of moderation should be followed as indiscipline leads to bad behavior and disregard for others. Too much of discipline restricts the freedom and creativity of child so a balance must be maintained.
