Writing-AC-Task-1 (Diagram)

Task 1

The diagram below shows the life cycle of a salmon, from egg to adult fish.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

Tips:
Write your description of the diagram by answering the following questions:

  1. Where and in what form do salmon begin their lives?
  2. When the young salmon emerge from eggs, where are they reared?
  3. Before swimming to the ocean, where do the young fish migrate to?
  4. What happens to salmon during their time in the ocean?
  5. Where do the adult fish then travel to, and why?
  6. What happens that completes the cycle?
How do you write an overview or summary about a 'life cycle' diagram?

  1. Count the number of stages in the life cycle.
  2. Decide on a beginning and an end point in the cycle.

Sample Answer ▼
The provided diagram displays the life cycle of a salmon fish dividing it into different stages, from birth to maturity.
Overall, a salmon fish goes through six* main phases to mature adult from the hatching period. Salmon spend time in three distinct locations during the cycle, moving from river to estuary to ocean and then back upstream.
The initial stage of salmon’s growth cycle takes place in rivers, where the adult fish lay and incubate their eggs. After emerging from eggs, the infant salmon spend their next stage being reared in freshwater. Then, at some point in their development, the fish swim downstream to river estuaries where rearing continues.
Following the estuary rearing period, the maturing salmon migrate to the ocean. Eventually, they grow into fully mature adults who are then ready to procreate for the propagation of the species. Finally, grownup salmons move to spawning areas of rivers to lay eggs and the life cycle of the next generation begins anew.

Writing Task-1 (Pie Chart Graph for AC students)

Task - 1 The three pie charts below show the changes in annual spending by a particular UK school in 1981, 1991 and 2001. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant. Sample Answer ▼ The given pie charts illustrate a UK school's annual spending and show the changes over two decades. As is seen in the provided pie charts, the school spent an increasing percentage of money on teachers' salaries, with the maximum of 50% being spent in 1991, after which it was reduced by 5% in 2001. Also, this remained the area, where the highest percentage of the money was spent, in the given three years. Expenditure on other workers' salaries decreased significantly over the years with 28%, 22% and 15% in 1981, 1991 and 2001 respectively. Again, the percentage spent on resources like books also decreased after a slight increase of 5% in 1991. Investment on furniture and equipment saw a substantial decline from 15% t

WRITING TASK-2 (ESSAY TOPIC)

Task - 2 Some universities now offer their courses on the Internet so that people can study online. Is this a positive or negative development? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience. Sample Answer ▼ Online education is a comparatively new trend and thousands of educational institutes have already embraced this method to offer their courses. While some negative aspects of this development could not be ignored, the advantages of it far outweigh the demerits. To begin with, many universities in developed countries offer online degrees and short courses and they have started doing so only after proper research. The research proved that the Internet-based courses are advantageous both for the students and teachers. The intuitive and methodical lessons offered by an online course is planned by several university teachers and technology experts and hence they maintain a rigid quality. The widespread use of the Internet mak
