WRITING TASK 2 (ESSAY TYPE :- To what extent do you Agree / Disagree)

Task- 2 Universities should accept equal numbers of men and women in every subject. To what extent do you agree with this statement? Sample Answer ▼ Gender issues have been increasing in importance through the centuries. In almost every sphere of human activity, there has been a movement towards greater equality between men and women. Although I agree that universities should open their doors to all students alike, in my view, they need not set a fixed limit on the number of men and women they accept in each subject. The bases for my views are psychological and personal. Psychologically-speaking, men and women are simply different, though they have the same potential for greatness. For example, women tend to be more intuitive, sensitive to others and caring. This means they may feel drawn, on the basis of their personalities, to certain kinds of professions such as teaching, nursing, or psychology, even if all fields are open to them. In such a context, it is best for u...

READING PASSAGE -1 Obtaining Linguistic Data A.     Many procedures are available for obtaining data about a language. They range from a carefully planned, intensive field investigation in a foreign country to a casual introspection about one’s mother tongue carried out in an armchair at home. B.     In all cases, someone has to act as a source of language data — an informant. Informants are (ideally) native speakers of a language, who provide utterances for analysis and other kinds of information about the language (e.g. translations, comments about correctness, or judgments on usage). Often, when studying their mother tongue, linguists act as their own informants, judging the ambiguity, acceptability, or other properties of utterances against their own intuitions. The convenience of this approach makes it widely used, and it is considered the norm in the generative approach to linguistics. But a linguist’s personal judgments are often un...

WRITING AC TASK-1 (Line Graph)

Task 1 The line graphs below show the production and demand for steel in million tonnes and the number of workers employed in the steel industry in the UK in 2010. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant. Sample Answer ▼ The first line graph presents a comparative analysis of the market requirement for steel and production of this material in 2010 in the UK. The second graph shows the total number of workers employed in this industry in the same year. Overall, the steel production in the UK in 2010 sur-plused the demand, except at the end of the year. The production of steel throughout the time exceeded the demand. In the first quarter of the year, the actual market call for steel started at 2000 million tonnes in January, but production was two times with a continuous rise. Later somewhere in April, the demand started reducing, but production was soaring and reached 5000 million tonnes....

WRITING TASK 2 (ESSAY TYPE :- Cause and Effect )

Task 2 Immigration has a major impact on the society. What are the main reasons of immigration? To what consequences can it lead? You should write at least 250 words. - Show / Hide Sample Answer - Immigration has a significant impact on the contemporary society. Each year, more and more people from all over the world decide to leave their home countries and move to another place. This essay will examine the reasons and the consequences of immigration. In my view, the main reason of immigration is a strong desire of better life quality and safe future. A lot of people from so-called Third World move to developed countries in search of better employment opportunities, and therefore, higher incomes. Moreover, living in a wealthy country implies living in a country with stable economy, so risks of losing their savings also lessen. For example, labour migration from Mexico to the USA is caused by these facts. Other reasons that force whole families to cross borders ar...

READING PASSAGE -1 Monkeys and Forests AS AN EAST WIND blasts through a gap in the Cordillera de Tilaran, a rugged mountain range that splits northern Costa Rica in half, a female mantled howler monkey moves through the swaying trees of the forest canopy. A.  Ken Glander, a primatologist from Duke L University, gazes into the canopy, tracking the female’s movements. Holding a dart gun, he waits with infinite patience for the right moment to shoot. With great care, Glander aims and fires. Hit in the rump, the monkey wobbles. This howler belongs to a population that has lived for decades at Hacienda La Pacifica, a working cattle ranch in Guanacaste province. Other native primates — white-faced capuchin monkeys and spider monkeys — once were common in this area, too, but vanished after the Pan-American Highway was built nearby in the 1950s. Most of the surrounding land was clear-cut for pasture. B.  Howlers persist at La Pacifica, Glander explains, because they are lea...
