Grammar Tip → Usage of "Like" and "As"

You may be confusing the words like and as with each other. Consider replacing one with the other.

Let's learn their correct usage :-


 Like is most often used as a preposition to express a resemblance or sameness.
  (This perfume smells like roses).

When as is used as a preposition, it means “in the role of.” 
  (I worked as a teacher for years.)


Incorrect→ She looks as my friend Mona.
Correct → She looks like my friend Mona.

Incorrect→ 
I worked like a teacher for years.
Correct→ I worked as a teacher for years.

Task 1 The graph below shows the changes in the maximum number of Asian elephants between 1994 and 2007.
